Camp Westmont is continuing our very successful Westmont Elite program for our 9th and 10th grade female and male campers, their counselors, their group leaders, their directors and most importantly their parents. We have received such positive feedback that we will now hold meetings once a week during rest hour with our 7th and 8th grade campers as well.

Westmont Elite is a two-year-program that is specifically designed with our older campers in mind. The purpose of Westmont Elite is to create a positive environment at camp which stresses a “zero” tolerance for gossiping, rumors, bullying and exclusion, while providing techniques to encourage teenagers to act more responsibly, to become better communicators and to establish healthier relationships with their peers.

This is a program that stresses youth empowerment, leadership, positive thinking and unconditional support for one another.

Through mandatory meetings at the beginning of the summer, various topics such as “gossip and rumors”, popularity, thinking for yourself, “boyfriends and girlfriends, to name a few, will be offered up for discussion and will be led by our trained professional staff members. Westmont Elite Campers will be encouraged to share their own issues of importance and each individual issue will be dealt with in a supportive and professional manner.

The key obviously to a successful beginning is our desire to create an environment in which “un-cool” behavior is forbidden by everyone at camp and to empower our young adults to care for, to protect one another, and to raise self-esteem and to promote leadership among them.

Fred, Ross and I have personally attended several workshops and we are committed to the idea that at Camp Westmont we have a unique opportunity to establish a value system which we can impart to our “Westmont Elite” Campers, and to our younger campers by example, and that these values will carry them through High School, College and the rest of their lives.

We ask for your support in our effort and we assure you that our “Westmont Elite” Campers will have many opportunities at camp to become responsible leaders through a variety of interesting and fun-filled new events.

In addition, it would be our pleasure to write college recommendations for those campers who complete this leadership program with us.

Campfully,

Minna, Fred & Ross
